Darya Warner is a NYC based bioartist who has incorporated the bioluminescent algae Pyrocystis fusiformis in her artwork. In the images above Darya pipets a dense culture of these diatoms into burned out incandescent light bulbs binging the bulb back to life. The bioluminescence can also be seen in her microscopic images taken in the NAT Lab at the School of Visual Arts in the heart of Manhattan.
